Featuring the same construction and quality of the rib-mounted keyed wooden flute, our Open-C model replaces the long C natural key with an open tone hole covered by the left thumb. Popular with Boehm flute players switching to simple-system instruments, the Open-C model provides a perfect C natural while providing a natural, keyless option to the long C key.

An old favorite in the Healy Flute family! Our the new, threaded "pedestal post" design lets us set the posts into the flute body with greater strength and stability. This design also lowers the key height in relation to the flute body for easier access to the touch pieces. This increases the easy-of-use and responsiveness of the key mechanisms on your Healy flute!

How would you like to get a wooden flute that offers a fully chromatic range but with no cross-fingering, half-holing, or keys? You get just that with our keyless chromatic 10-hole flute. Though it takes some time get used to dedicating each finger to a tone hole, many of our clients have taken the challenge and absolutely love this instrument.

Our three-piece, open-C keyless flute utilizes the exact same design and construction at the standard unkeyed flute, but with one major difference. We've replaced the cross-fingering of C naturals with an open C tone hole operated by the left thumb. This allows you to produce a perfect C natural without cross-fingering and without a long C key.

Our Repair Services
The Healy Flute Company offers extensive repair services for simple-system wooden flutes, Boehm flutes, fifes, and piccolos. Instrument repairs are priced on a per job basis with a shop time cost of $100/hour. All repairs come with a one year guarantee starting on the date that the instrument is shipped back to the customer.
When To Call a Professional
Ask ten people about the care and feeding of wooden flutes, fifes, and piccolos and you'll get ten different opinions ranging from perfectly credible to utterly absurd. If you wrote down all of the online and offline discussion about oiling wooden flutes alone, you could probably fill several large city libraries.
