Lora MacPherson
Lora is principal oboist with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne, FL, The Walt Disney World Candlelight Orchestra at EPCOT (Orlando Florida), and is much in demand as a contract musician. She has performed with virtually all of todays top classical artists and in the pop music world was one of the musicians for Whitney Houstons famous rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner". She also plays fife with Skip in the Spirit of America fife and drum corps at EPCOT Center, Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL.
Lora is also an arranger for and a playing member of Skip Healy's "The Cartel".
Lora is the General Manager of and also acts as a quality control consultant and customer relations representitave for Healy Flute Company and also serves as the company's "Minister of Information".
Mark Bachand
Mark "Thor" Bachand, originally from Warwick, RI, began playing trumpet at the age of ten. At age eleven, he began playing American fife and drum music, becoming proficient at playing fife, snare, and bass drum.
Bachand has studied fife and flute making with Skip for over ten years. As a subcontractor at the Healy Flute Company, Mark specializes in the rough turning, boring, reaming, and finished turning of many of the instruments. "One of the things I strive to do in my work is to match Skip's skill and care in instrument making."
Bachand plays flute, fife, piccolo, as well as bodhran in venues and sessions all over New England. He also plays in "All For Me Grog" and "The Cartel," two local Irish & folk bands also featuring another Healy Flute Company apprentice, Marc Bernier.
Marc Bernier
Marc Bernier is a professional musician, sailor, and chef who has worked on sailing vessels from Chesapeake Bay to the Coast of Maine. Marc has spent five years in the chantey department at Mystic Seaport, where he presented music programs for both educational and social functions. He has worked as a musician and educator for the Clearwater Program on the Hudson River.
As an accomplished percussionist, he is much in demand with many of the northeast's most highly respected Cajun and Zydeco bands, and he has played the bodhran with several prominent Irish music performers. Marc has also been active in Connecticut's fife and drum community since his teenage years, when he began to play the fife in various traditional and progressive ensembles. He is also a playing member of Skip Healy's "The Cartel".
As a subcontractor, Marc brings his woodworking experience from the shipwrights of Mystic Seaport to the Healy Flute Company.
