Concerts, sessions, & events
The 2008 International Native American Flute Association (INAFA) convention will feature the premier performing artists, both Native and non-Native, in the music industry today. The convention's evening performances, which are open to the public, will feature Native American music in various formats, as well as Celtic music with the addition of Irish flute and fife maker/performer Skip Healy and bodhran player, Mark Bachand.
I have been asked to be the flute instructor at the prestigious "QUEEN MAEVE INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL OF IRISH MUSIC SONG AND SET DANCING, Sligo town, Sligo Ireland. This event was founded and directed by the great Carmel Gunning, herself a champion tin whistle and flute player as well as a singer and highly regarded teacher. I will be performing in a concert called the World Flute Fest which will be a benefit for the group In Defense of Animals. The concert will feature several prominant muscians from a variety of musical cultures. More information will be coming soon!
This will be my first time performing INSIDE this grand old venue although I used to "busk the line" outside many times in the old days... It will be fun to finally see the inside of the building, let alone being on one of its famous stages!!!
Over the past 7 years, Wind on the Bay has built a reputation as one of the primere events for learning how to play traditional Irish flute music. We have featured some of the most prominant names in the field as our instructors and this year will surely be one of our finest staffs with the return of John Skelton and Grey Larson as well as founder and artistic Director Skip Healy.
