Here is some cool video from the Finale of the Basel Tattoo production I
just played in. I play the flute solo (on a Bb conical bore fife) for a piece called the "Band of
Brothers". It was an HBO series about E Company 101st Airborne during
the Second World War. It was very emotional for me to play as my father
was in D Company and they announced that each show. There were 18 shows for
over 8000 people each show so it was a huge event. I hope you enjoy me and my "back-up band" of about 500 musicians and singers!
I will be playing a concert with a great friend of mine from Ireland, Mr. Ronan Regan. Ronan is a fantastic fiddle player and also WORLD CHAMPION Irish "Sean-Nos" (old style) dancer. This is an amazing dance form, not the "Riverdance" style everyone knows but the original Irish style step dancing. This will be a great day of music and dance. If you enjoyed my last concert with Seamus O'Kane, you will LOVE this one too!
It will be my great honor to be performing in this years Basel Tattoo from July 12 through the 21st. This is the second largest outdoor Military Tattoo in the world and has a huge audience. Over 100,000 in the venue during the course of the event and nearly 2 million television viewers. I will be playing with an amazing musician named Stewart Sampson M.B.E., former Chief Piper for the British Armed forces and the greatest piper I have ever heard. We will be performing for an equally amazing group the Ailsa Craig Highland Dancers from Scotland.
I have just had the great honor of having a cover story published about me in the BASLERSTAB newspaper in Basel, Switzerland which is one of the 2 largest circulation newspapers in the city. Here is a link to the article if you would like to read it. www.baslerstab.ch You can use Google translator on your computer if your German is't up to it! It's a cool article about the various twists in the road that have led me here... Hope you enjoy it!
After far too much thinking, I have added a revised fingering chart for my 10 hole Chromatic system instruments to the site. It may be a bit confusing but it's the best I could come up with, any suggestions for future editions of it are welcome. You will see this "For a 10 hole fingering chart, see this link; http://www.skiphealy.com/chart/" in all sections pertaining to 10 hole instruments. I hope it helps!!
